Spent 13 years in a compression and process equipment fabrication shop. Extensive practical experience with engineered reciprocating compressor packaging, rotating equipment and process treating packages, including design of all on-skid equipment and systems. Notable work includes the high-pressure gas injection compressor packages for the BP Badami project in Alaska, a large modular NGL fractionation plant for AltaGas, several acid gas and CO₂ injection systems, and gas and liquids cavern storage facilities.

Six years with oil production companies, then more than 44 years directing design and managing projects in fabrication shops: heavy oil and water processing, emulsion treaters and free water knock-outs, electrostatic dehydrators and desalters, line heaters, phase separation, produced water clean-up (CPI, IGF, filters), complete production facility layout, custom skid packaging, and gas dehydration and sweetening.

Fourteen years in natural gas facilities: gas processing, NGL extraction, acid gas compression, dehydration and injection, sulphur and tail gas recovery, CO₂ pipelines and gas sweetening. Modular gas plants from 50 to 200 MMscf/d. Refinery configuration, rating and debottlenecking work for Esso Antwerp, Valero, Statoil Mongstad and Alberta Envirofuels. Also heavy oil extraction, renewable energy processes and carbon capture technology, plus eight years of research and university lecturing.
